Eastwood Forum?
What is a forum anyways?
A forum is a place on the internet where people come together to discuss stuff. In forums users can post stuff for others to see, and reply to other user's posts. Posts are organized by topic (or "thread"), with each poster either replying to an existing topic or creating a new topic for a new conversation. A forum is not necessarily a social media website like FaceTwitter or an instant messaging service like Snapchat or Hangouts.
Social Networking sites are about keeping up with people and things that matter to you.
Instant messaging services are about communicating with people.
Forums are about bringing people with similar interests together.
What is this forum about?
All over the Internetz there are forums on about every single topic of interest. There are Internet forums dedicated to cars, computers, Christianity, pasta, Apple, Super Smash Bros, social activism, memes, etc. This topic of interest of this forum is Eastwood. Eastwood students, Eastwood alumni, Eastwood Classes, Eastwood memes, and other Eastwood stuff in general.
People of Eastwood, feel welcome to post here whenever you feel like it. This is y’all’s forum, feel free to post about whatever you feel like posting as long as it is appropriate and respectful. The forum is as Eastwood is, as good as you make it.
Why is it called SWAG?
SWAG is the club that administers this site. Although the forum is not about SWAG, SWAG operates mainly through the forum. The new SWAG club was created with the purpose of making Eastwood a better place both socially and academically (Hence the main categories are Community and Academia). SWAG was supposed to operate like any other club at Eastwood but physical/real-life meetings did not work for everybody. Seniors are busy with who-knows-what, so this forum is mostly not catered to them, but everyone else, including faculty and alumni.
SWAG believes the forum is of great importance to the betterment of Eastwood as it allows students to openly discuss issues regarding our school. The forum will also foster 1st-amendment-based learning by making students engage in learning by exchange of ideas instead of your typical lecture-based class. This is a place by students, for students. This is a place where students have a voice.
Aside from this forum, SWAG offers a greater variety of dynamic community services, which are discussed on the “Services” board. Anybody can suggest a service by opening a thread there. Since the forum is a service offered by SWAG, discussions pertaining to the forum itself are found there. Because some of the services may need monetary funds, there is a “treasury” board concerned with raising and spending funds.
