This thread is for the discussion of anything relating to AP Macroeconomics. Discuss the class, the exam, the homework, the content etc.
About the Subject:
the part of economics concerned with large-scale or general economic factors, such as interest rates and national productivity.
And economics is: "the branch of knowledge concerned with the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth."
About the Class:
Instructor: Mr. McMurchy
Lecture based class with ~10% of class time allocated to problem solving (packet filling). Workload is very light (Chapter a week). The difficulty of AP macroeconomics is level "easy." Taking a semester of economics is required to graduate but you can take the HCC alternative for this class during the school year or during the summer (Not after senior year of course). Frequency of tests is average for Eastwood (expect one test at least once every 3 weeks or so.)
Reading the chapter and taking notes during class may be redundant as the lectures cover the basic information that is already in the book. And the information in the book may be redundant given it is in the packets as well. The content of lectures sometimes spills over into commentaries about political news. Because the class "discussions" are sometimes dictatorially directed this board offers a safe space for discussion.
Try not to be late for this class. If you are not going to show up, give the instructor a notice.
Unrelated note: Coffee may be available so bring them cups if you are interested. Bring a salt shaker because you will "take it with a grain of salt."
About the Exam:
If you are taking the course you have access to review books which you might want to use if you want to score something over a passing score (4 or 5). The passing rate for the class is assumed to be average given there is no access to official data.
If you want to take AP Microeconomics contact McMurchy. He'll provide the resources necessary.
